Lottery Process

2024-2025 LOTTERY INFORMATION

  • The name of each prospective student is written on or affixed to a card. A letter indicating order of preference is written on each card (see below).
  • The selection procedure will be conducted one grade level at a time. All cards, regardless of preference, are placed in a container one grade level at a time.

  • Each card is selected one at a time by a third party who is not affiliated with Taylor’s Crossing Public Charter School. This person will pass the card to another individual who writes a number (indicating the order drawn) on each card.

  • The applicants are prioritized based on the following criteria:

A=returning students

B=children of founders/full-time employees (not to exceed 10% of the student population)

C=siblings of students already selected

D=within attendance boundaries

E=prospective students who live outside the attendance boundaries.

  • After all cards have been selected for each grade, then the cards shall be sorted for each grade level in accordance with the following procedure. All cards with the letter "A" shall be sorted first, based on the chronological order of the selection number written on each index card; followed by all cards with the letter "B", based on the chronological order of the selection number written on each card; followed by all cards with the letter "C", based on the chronological order of the selection number written on each card; followed by all cards with the letter "D", based on the chronological order of the selection number written on each card; followed, finally, by all cards containing the letter E, based on the chronological order of the selection number written on each card.

  • After the cards have been drawn and sorted for all grade levels, the names shall by transferred by grade level, and in such order as preferences apply, to the final selection list.

  • Final Selection List: The names of the persons in the highest order on the final election list shall have the highest priority for admission to Taylor’s Crossing Public Charter School in that grade, and shall be offered admission to school in such grade until all seats for that grade are filled.

  • All students in each grade who are not selected to attend Taylor’s Crossing Public Charter School will be placed on the waiting list. Any seat that is vacated during the school year prior to the next lottery will be offered to the next eligible student on the waiting list.

  • Within seven days of the lottery, letters will be sent notifying parents/guardians that their child is either eligible to attend Taylor’s Crossing Public Charter School or has been placed on the waiting list.
